Ivory veneered wooden casket fragment bearing the name and titles of Ramses IX
Ramses IX object
The fragment was once a part of a compartment casket of Ramses IX discovered with the kings mummy in the DB 320 royal cache in July, 18811). No obvious chronological evidence can be derived from this object except perhaps to suggest that the fact it is wooden with traces of remaining glue may make it more believable for Ramses IX to have lived in the 5th rather than the 12th century BC.2)
