[100] The Varus Battle of 9 AD against the Germanic supporters
of Hermann took place just north of the Teuteburger Wald and north
of Osnabrueck at ca. Long. 8.45 east & Lat. 52.8 north. A 1950 map
shows the town of Bramsche and a little southeast of it Engter. Just north
of Engter and near the Ems-Weser-Elbe Kanal the battle took place according
to German investigators reports on German language Internet sites.
