"Geometric seal impressions are most common, having been found in considerable quantities in the Golan Heights, Tel Dan, Beth Ha-Emeq, Beth Yerah, Tel Qashish, and elsewhere. It is a homogeneous class, with a great degree of uniformity and resemblance among the seals from various sites. It is also particularly characteristic of Palestine and was probably produced by local craftsmen. Few geometric seals are known from Syria; their patterns are usually different from those common in Palestine, and any connections between these two lands must have been minimal. However, a large group of geometric cylinder seal impressions was found at the site of Lerna in Greece/Mycenaea." [Amnon Ben-Tor, `The Early Bronze Age' in The Archaeology of Ancient Israel, 1992, p. 116.]

For the story of Argos and Tyrins, the latter of which lies only 1.5 km from the shores of the Sea. Legend has it that Herakles was born in Tyrins while Eurystheus was king in neighboring Mycenae. The plain of Argos was a natural starting point of political and social developments. The name `Argos' is said to have origined from Sophocles in his `Electra', 4. See also Pausanias, II. 15, 5; cf. Plato, Timaeus.; cf. Aeschylus, Supp., 250. Of the play writer Aeschylus it is said that he never mentions Mycenae. [H. Schliemann, `Tyrins', p. 39.]
