| Incense Altars |
Comparing Incense Altars found in Israel with examples of Thutmose III Karnak relief. This comparison of an incense altar found in Israel during archaeological excavations with images found in the Karnak reliefs of Thutmoses III helps us understand that these types of temple wares were in use for many centuries and the Karnak images represent genuine artifacts. An incense burner was found at Tel Qarqar in Syria which archaeologists were, for the most part, able to put back together. A `cult stand' was also found seemingly showing the wide spread use of such religious items and illustrating the prevelance of pagan customs, albeit mixed, related or mirroring Hebrew practices, particularly during phases of apostasy.
