Total elapsed time for the dynasty**.........218 years....................................................212 years

* Based on years of reign to the coregency of the next ruler.
** Compared to 213+ years as given by the Turin Papyrus, however, one ought ot keep in mind the possibility that the various rulers with a I, II or III at the end were actually only one person described during phases of their reign or from different areas in the country. Such a scenario would significantly shorten the duration of this dynasty.

Notes and References

01) A quartzite lintel showing the partial cartouche of Senusret III now in the BM, can be seen in Egyptian Archaeology, No. 7, 1995, p. 33.

"In 1941 Labib Habachi found a statue of the king `Hetep-ib-Re '`Amu-sa-Hornedjheryotef' with 3 statues of Sobeknofru, the last ruler of the 12th Dynasty, in a small sanctuary near our palace. This king had perhaps originally been the queen's chief steward, who after her reign was in a position to seize the Egyptian throne for a time. His name indicates that he was the son of an Asiatic. Most likely he was one of the functionaries of the Asiatic settlement at Tell el-Dab'a. This king had extensive connections with northern Syria. A scepter in the shape of a ceremonial club with his name, found in a contemporary royal tomb called by the excavator the "tomb of `The Lord of the Goats' in Ebla, was most probably a diplomatic gift." [Manfred Bietak, `Avaris, the Capital of the Hyksos', p. 30; `our palace' in this case means the palace M. Bietak was excavating.]

4) Amenemess III is said to be the builder of the so-called `Labyrinth' in Egypt. He is also supposed to represent Memnon but see our preferred identities above. [Sir A.Gardner, `The Egyptian Memnon' in JEA, Vol. 47, 1961, p. 96; N. Reeves, `Ancient Egypt -The Great Discoveries', p. 77 as well as other pages on this king.]
