Cities of Ash

Despite some 150 years of archaeological discoveries, the biblical sites of Sodom and Gomorrah have been neglected or avoided like a hot stove. In this account we present mostly images and test results of the strange surroundings of ancient Sodom and Gomorrah.
The Bible tells us the fate of the cities of the plain ...

"... the Lord rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the Lord out of heaven."
Genesis 19:24
"... turning the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah into ashes ..."
2.Peter 2:6

Sodom and Gomorrah were reduced to ashes. Standing in the area, visitors are impressed by the fact that the Dead Sea is 1526 feet below sea level. God, as the consuming fire for blatant sin, burnt the area melting out the whole place. [Deut. 4:24; 9:3; Hebr. 12:29 - The glory of the Lord is such a fire, Rev. 15:2. God's fire never goes out but those burned go out, burned to be ashes.]

In the desert near the Dead Sea are some unusual white formations. Cities of Ash

In these formations strange geometric structures can be observed. Cities of Ash

Eroded structures which do not look natural. Cities of Ash

These structures are composed entirely of ash and are reminiscent of man made buildings. Cities of Ash

The Biblical Account of the history of the region reads as follows:

"These (Amraphel, Arioch, Ellasar, Chedorlaomer) made war with Be'ra king of Sodom, and with Bir'sha king of Gomor'rah, Shi'nab king of Ad'mah, and … Shem-e'ber king of Ze-bo'im, and the king of Be'la, which is Zoar. And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomoarrah …and … joined battle with them in the… valley of Sid'dim. And the valley of Sid'dim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there … And they (Amraphel etc.) took all the goods of Sodom and Gomor'rah."
Genesis 14:1,2, 8-11.

A geologists delight. These thin, evenly and flat deposited ash layers indicate quick formation possibly from huge amounts of billowing dust clouds settling in quick succession as a result of a geothermal disaster predicted by God. Cities of Ash

It is not unusual to still find pure sulphur balls at `Gomorrah'. Cities of Ash

The quantity of Oxygen and Silicate in the object seems to confirm its heat dependent origin. Note also the relative amount of `S', Sulphur.

Other samples showed results of high concentrations of Sulphur: 15.405 and 95.500

The report of two of the samples which were analyzed with the following results:
Sample A
Consists primarily of two major phases -
Anhydrous Calcium Sulfate ....... CaSO4 .... ca. 72%
Sodium Chloride ....................... NaCl ...... ca. 25%
Other minor silicates .................................. ca. 03%

Sample B
Consists primarily of two major and one minor phases.
Elemental Sulphur ......................... S ......... ca. 96%
Anhydrous Calcium Sulphate .... CaSO4 .... ca. 03%
Sodium Chloride ....................... NaCl ...... ca. 03%

THE END

The Bible teaches that the deeply burned out sites of ethically insolvent Sodom and Gomorrah are to serve us as an example of what will happen at the end time. The glory of God, which is described as "paved work of sapphire stone" (Ex. 24:10) is a devouring or consuming fire to those who remain in sin (Deut. 4:24; 9:3; Hebr. 12:28-29).

That means, when Jesus appear again with power and great glory (Matth. 24:30) "... then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming: Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved." 2. Thessalonians 2:8-10.

We as people must cleanse our soul temple, our mind, now from all that has to do with sin. When Jesus comes again it is too late. The brightness of His appearing will slay the wicked for nothing of sin can exist before God. Please read here the encouraging way how to do that.
